Horse Racing Tips - 20th Meeting - August 07

RACE 6: THE EMTEL LIGHTNING CUP - GROUP 3 - 1000m

1. THE CARDINAL - 60Kg - LHERMYTE - DRAWN 5

Is the classiest horse of the lot. Will benefit from a hot pace and thus will come from behind as usual. 60Kg is not a problem. Will be in the top 3.

2. SHORT CORNER - 54.5Kg - GEROUDIS - DRAWN 2

With Geroudis on board, only 54.5Kg, a top draw on this sprint, has pace to follow closely and finish as well. Is the favorite to bag a winner for his stable.

3. ALWAYS A PLEASURE - 53Kg - DYE - DRAWN 6

Has pace, weight and jockey in his favor as well as the 1000m. Is coming after a long layoff but well trained for this race. Will dictate the pace if jumps well from the outside barrier. Can make the top 4.

4. CHIVAS - 53Kg - LACAILLE - DRAWN 3

Is back on his favorite trip - 1000m where he has never lost. Is well drawn, light weight and will have a hot pace.

5. BURBERRY - 50.5Kg - EMAMDEE - DRAWN 4

Is back on the sprint after a good try over 1500m. Has a strong finish and a strong finisher on board. Will follow at the back before sprinting in the last 400m. Is a danger on his debut form on the same distance. Second favorite.

6. MODERN MONET - 50Kg - JOORAWON - DRAWN 8

His first attempt on this trip. Has shown pace on longer trips. Will be well placed in a midfield position. Will have a very good pace. Will sustain finish. A good place bet.

7. IRISH COFFEE - 49Kg - HATT - DRAWN 1

Is in for his first outing on 1000m. Has shown pace and done well in front running tactics in SA. Wit ha plum draw, Hatt on board, and a light weight, he will follow closely to sustain finish if he is unable to lead. The favorite to win the race according to me.

8. REVOLUTION - 49Kg - RAMA - DRAWN 7

Has lost his early pace. Is no more the same horse and finding it difficult to get back to form. Had a good last outing but in a lower class. Outsider's chance.

Horse Racing Tips - 19th Meeting - July 31

RACE 6: THE AFRASIA BANK MAURITIUS DERBY CUP GROUP 1 - 1600m - POIDS POUR AGE.

1. DISA LEADER - DRAWN 1 - TEEHA

Was beaten by War of Conquest on his last outing, fair and square. Followed too closely the hot pace set by the winner last time out and was too keen due to the presence of Advocacy on his outside. Seems to like to travel one off. Is in a good shape and with all his opponent carrying 58Kg, will definitely be an advantage. Will be the horse to beat again.

2. FRUSK- DRAWN 3 - BURKE

Had a good last outing but was carrying 11Kg less than Disa Leader. Will surely do well on longer distances and preparing himself for the Maiden. Will be in the money.

3. MDANSI - DRAWN 6 -SEGEON

Very disappointing run in a lower class on 1400m last time after a very promising run in the first leg of the Derby. Was unbalanced though enterring the final straight. Will find it difficult with no weight difference and his bad draw.

4. MONSIEUR DANE - DRAWN 5 - FAUCON

Was lame on his last outing but was runner up to Foxtrot Oscar. Has proved to be a hard nut ot crack as a front runner on the mile. Is now up in class and seems difficult to beat the likes of Disa Leader and Seattle Ice class wise but will be the only front runner of the race. Can steal a place in the top 4.

5. SEA OF GALILEE - DRAWN 4 - LHERMYTE

Not to the expectations after a winning start to his career in Mauritius. Will have a good pace though and on a n appropriate distance. Will come at the finish this time again. Can definitely make the top 3.

6. SEATTLE ICE - DRAWN 2 - EAGAN

Did not show any improvement on his last outing. This time will be on the mile, his preferred distance. With his good draw can follow close to the pace or even try to lead. Will be hard to beat in these circumstances. Will prove his class this time. Can upset Disa Leader.

Horse Racing Tips - 14th Meeting - June 26

RACE 6: LA COUPE DU CENT - CINQUANTENAIRE: G2 OPEN - 1500m

1. The Cardinal; 60Kg ; Drawn 6 - Naiko

Had a very difficult race on his last outing, having to travel wide almost all the way though with a claimer of 5Kg. Could not accelerate as usual in the straight line. Is back this week and his trainer is confident of a win. Seems that a rest will do him some good. Can set up his own pace or follow closely this time given that there will be no real pacemakers in this field. Cannot be ignored. A place in the top 4.

2. Captain's Knock; 58Kg ; Drawn 5 - Shane Dye

The horse to beat! The pace of the race will not bother him as he can start his action earlier and has a long acceleration as well. His Jockey knows him perfectly.

3. Gliding High; 56Kg ; Drawn 3 - Burke

A classy sort that can match the best horses here on this distance. Will have the pace against him being a back-marker. Can he knock down the Captain? The second best for me till he proves it wrong.

4. Senor Versace; 56Kg ; Drawn 1 - Faucon

A top class horse with great career in SA. A half brother to Captain's Knock. On his class, cannot be ignored in this race. Will need the race but never know on class factor alone can beat the field!

5. Flavius; 52Kg ; Drawn 4 - Eagan

Did a quite good race after a long layoff due to injury. Does run well fresh and with no real pacemakers will be the one to go forward probably. If allowed to run freely and dictate his own pace, can be difficult to counter in the end. But in this class and taking into consideration his second race after long layoff, better go for a place in the top 4.

6. Burberry; 50Kg ; Drawn 2 - Beekhary

Won well last time out showing his devastating finish, but in a lower class. His first outing on a 1500m here with Beekhary on board. Will follow quite closely or can set the pace given that he has already shown pace earlier or can be asked to run in a forward position if pulling. With only 50Kg and good draw, cannot be ignored.

Horse Racing Tips - 13th Meeting - June 19

RACE 6: THE MAURITIUS LEXPRESS TURF DERBY TRIAL CUP - 1400m - OPEN RATING - GROUP 3.

This is a mouth-watering race that all of us were waiting to see - Disa Leader, WOC, Seattle Ice and Space Captain the top 4 year olds with top reputation that came to Mauritius will fight to win the first leg. There is also Mdansi with only 49Kg and the plum draw to compensate the lack of class(?) and Summer Reccess which has won 3 races on 1400m in SA and not to forget Pivotal Blue with Spiteri on board.

According to me, War Of Conquest will take the lead as usual even if he is drawn wide. If Seattle Ice or Mdansi persists to set the pace the Hatt will settle behind the leaders to come at the finish. Space Captain will be well placed near the pace, with Disa LEader following him. Hatt will normally attack from the 600m mark to take the first run on his opponents but Disa Leader and Space Captain as well will follow in the steps. Space Captain has shown great finish on his first outing here and that too has a long acceleration. Disa Leader  as well will be following Space Captain and Dye will probably launch his attack in the final 400m. Mdansi will try to keep pace with them with his light weight.

According to me, Disa Leader will have the final say with Space Captain and Mdansi following.

Horse Racing Tips - 12th Meeting - June 12

RACE 6: THE ANGLO MAURITIUS GOLDEN JUBILEE CUP. 1650m 61+

1. The Cardinal; Drawn 9; Meetoo; 61Kg(-4Kg).

Coming back after a good rest. Is back to top form in this field and attempting 1650m for the first time in his career. Having won 3 races over 1600m including the Barbe Cup and the last leg of the 4year old championship last year, The Cardinal proves that the additional 50m is no problem for him. There will be a decent pace in this race and expect The Cardinal to follow close to the pace with the claim of 4Kg. Will be ridden by an apprentice which knows the horse well and who is riding with great confidence. My first choice!

2. Silverware; Drawn 3; Lacaille; 54Kg.

Is back on a more appropriate distance after having run a very good race after a long break on the 1365m sprint last time out. Will do extremely well on this distance. The main challenger for The Cardinal. Can set his own pace and if allowed to do so easily, will be hard to catch over the final stages. Second best.

3. Hold My Jacket; Drawn 5; Dye; 53.5Kg.

Will be on this distance at CDM for the first time but has already run upto 1900m in SA. Seems to be the fastest of all horses but will be kept at the back, being the preferred tacti of his jockey, but can see a change of tactics this time. A decent outsider's chance.

4. Autumn Frost; Drawn 6; Eagan; 53Kg.

His second run after a disappointing one in the Duchess. Seemed that it needed the last race. Was overweight. Back on a more appropriate distance. Can be a big runner this time. Watch Out for this classy sort with Eagan.

5. Solar Symbol; Drawn 11; Lermyte; 53Kg.

Did well last time against the running machine Captain's Knock. Will be enjoying the 1650m but the draw is not that good for this pacer. Can follow closely or in midfield though before being asked for an effort from the 800m mark. Will make the podium.

6. Halo Hunter; Drawn 8; Emamdee; 51.5Kg.

Is a classy sort that has been very unfortunate due to injury problems. Will have strong finisher Emamdee on board. The draw is not important. Has done well on the 1365m for a first outing this year after a long rest and will appreciate the 1650m. A place in the top four is possible.

7. Winter Wind; Drawn 2; Spitteri; 51Kg.

Has done well on his last outing. 1650m seems to suit him better but running against some of the best horses this time. Will have a decent pace in the race and can come at the finish as usual. In good form. Outsider's chance though.

8. Candy Bar; Drawn 4; Daby; 50.5Kg.

Won almost on the line last outing in a lower class. Has done quite well in top class as well on longer distances. Can make his own pace this time with his light weight to compensate his lack of class against top opposition. In top form. A place bet.

9. London Del; Drawn 10; Naiko; 50Kg.

Will have his third outing and this time can show some progress. Seems to find it difficult to find back his lost form due to injury problems otherwise a top horse indeed. Need to follow.

10. Men OF Rheims; Drawn 7; Sooful.

Had a very good outing last time. Seems to gradually find his form. Will be served by a decent pace and if he shows same form as last time can make the top 3. Stands a good chance.

Horse Racing Tips - 11th Meeting - June 05

RACE 6: THE SUPERSCORE NOBLE SALUTE TROPHY; GROUP3 (OPEN) - 1400m

1. Short Corner; 60Kg - Dye - Drawn 7

Did well on his last outing after a long break due to health problems. Does not necessarily have to go up-front or follow closely and can come from the back. Will have the top weight of 60Kg but with Dye on board. Is in good form and will be there to compete for top spot.

2. Chivas; 59.5Kg - Jacobson - Drawn 3

Gr8 performance on last outing against top opposition. Showed good pace and finish. Had a 5Kg claimer though. This time going down in class and will be a big danger. With his good draw will jump well and follow closely before firing in the straight line. Jacobson knows him very well, having won easily with him last season!
Among the top 3 of the race. Big chance on last outing!

3. Gilding High; 59Kg - Burke - Drawn 1

Top class performer having ran with the likes of Our Giant and Smart Banker to name a few and has done very well. Very consistent performer. has won two times on 1400m in SA. Needed the last run and ran on very late last time in the Duchess. 1400m seems to be sharp but since the pace will be on, he will come at the finish! is my first choice for the win for this classy sort.

4. Profit Report; 57.5Kg - Eagan - Drawn 5

Won well last time on a heavy track by dictating his own pace. Is in top form and is considered as best on 1400m. Can follow closely in one off position and fire in the straight line. Can make it again but opposition seems to be tougher than last time. Can make the top three.

5. Firebolt; 56.5Kg -Lacaille - Drawn 2

Needs circumstances to be in his favor to do well. Has a very good draw since it likes to follow with the pace or sets his own pace. Will be against some top horses.

6. Polar Falcon; 56Kg - Hall - Drawn 9

Is a gr8 finisher and the draw is not that important. Finished well behind Profit Report last time on a heavy track and is on the up constantly. Is the Dark Horse of the race according to me.

7. Silent Screen; 55Kg - Rama - Draw 6

Will make his debut for this season. Is up in class. Will be upfront being the most rapid one in the lot. Will try to set a hot pace for his companion, Gilding High.

8. Pataya Beach; 53.5Kg - Daby - Drawn 8

Needed badly the run on his last outing. Seems will need another race and expected to have a good race this time.

9. Capitaine; 52.5Kg - Joorawon - Drawn 4

Won very easily last time out in a lower class. Is going up in class but does not possess the same potential as some of the runners in this race. His weight and draw will favor him. Outsider's chance.

Horse Racing Tips - 10th Meeting - May 30

RACE 6: THE TOTE LEPEP MOTHER'S DAY TROPHY - C3 (60-45); 1500m

1. Eli's Connection; 60Kg; Drawn 10; Lacaille.

Is back in this class where he won quite well with a very good finish. Is drawn wide this time. Will surely be ridden from the back again since his trainer did not like Lacaille opting to go forward for his last race. Is a strong contender for this race. First chance if well ridden out!

2. Desert Storm; 59.5Kg (-5); Drawn 5; Bheekary.

Won well last time out though it appeared to be a difficult one. Had to be straightened before moving forward to catch Champ In Action. Will have Bheekary with his 5Kg claim and could follow nicely in midfield or close to the leaders. Will be a danger at the finish if well handled in the straight line.

3. Pivotal Blue; 59.5Kg; Drawn 9; Faucon.

Surprise winner on 1000m with a devastating finish to beat One For The Road last time. Seems to like hot pace and come from behind. Can be in the winner's enclosure once again.

4. Bright Stone; 58.5Kg; Drawn 7; Joorawon.

Came back very late on his last outing on 1000m after being outpaced in the initial stages. 1500m will suit him perfectly and the outside draw is not a problem since it needs more time to go upfront. Can follow and fire or set his own pace. In top form. The main contender according to me.

5. Mendelsohn; 58Kg; Drawn 2; Hall.

Up in class after 2 great wins. Is now facing tougher oppositions and according to me needs a wet going to do well (all his wins on wet going). Is in top form in training and his connections are expecting it to do well this time again.

6. Waves Of Winter; 58Kg; Drawn 3; Spitteri.

Has done well on last time he tried this distance by setting his own pace. His last race has to be ignored since it cannot stay 1850m. Will do well even if he follows the leaders to fire home turn. Good Outsiders chance.

7. Romp In The Forum; 56.5Kg (-4); Drawn 8; Meetoo.

Is a good performer but is this year competition seems to be tough at this age. His outside barrier is not a problem as it can follow in a one off position and take come at the finish. Will have 5Kg claimer again on his back. Can make the top four again.

8. Marcus Antonius; 56Kg (-1.5); Drawn 6; Bussunt.

Will be on his debut on 1500m which is a good one for a middle distance performer. Is highly esteemed by connections and is expected to make a good debut. Can make it on first outing. Likes to run with the pace.

9. Baraloche; 55.5Kg; Drawn 1; Segeon.

Is highly esteemed by his trainer. Needed the last run and did quite well after rest. Can dictate his own pace. Cannot be written off. His stable is in form. Can be a surprise winner.

10. Hero's Hope; 53.5Kg (-1.5); Drawn 4; Azie.

Seems to have lost his form a bit since the beginning of the season. Will come from the back for sure and will have Azie this time on his back. Outsider's chance.

RACE 6: THE FOUR POINTS BY SHERATON SOUVENIR TROPHY - C1 & C2 (61+) - 1600m

1. Captains Knock - Drawn 7; Shane Raymond Dye; 60Kg; Does well on SOFT AND HEAVY GOING.

One of the best horses actually in Mauritius. Has had a good first race against Space Captain on 1400m. Is in top form and running on a more appropriate distance. Will be difficult to counter on his form. Banker of the day!

2. Flavius - Drawn 4; R. Bheekharry; 56.5 (-5)Kg; Does well on SOFT AND HEAVY GOING.

Coming after a long layoff due to injury. Seems to be back to form and debuts his season on 1600m. Will have a claimer and normally does well fresh. Will be in the top three according to me.

3. Solar Symbol - Drawn 1; Ram Meetoo; 56.5 (-5)Kg; Does well on SOFT AND HEAVY GOING.

The winner of the Tote Golden Trophy and Maiden Cup 2009. Runs well fresh and his trainer has chosen the 1600m to start his season. Will have claimer Meetoo, who won on Juanfra last week. Can follow the leader or lead before making his move from the 600m marks. Will be a danger with only 51.5Kg. Second best.

4. Men Of Rheims - Drawn 5; Joorawon; 54Kg; Does well ON SOFT GOING.

Seemed to need the run for his first outing this season. Expected to run a better race this time. Is coming back to form slowly. Outsider's Chance.

5. Solar Orbit - Drawn 3; Hoolash; 54 (-4)Kg; Does well ON SOFT GOING.

Starting out the season on 1600m. Will have Hoolash on his back. Will be well placed and likes to run behind the leaders. Seems to need the run.

6. Dunnedin Star - Drawn 6; Teeha; 53.5Kg; Does well on SOFT AND HEAVY GOING.

Has had a very good first outing on 1400, where he did not disgraced. The 1600m and the going is in his favor. Will lead for sure to take the first run as from the 500m mark and will try to resist to the finishers. Will finish in the money.

7. Fire Practice - Drawn 2; S. Rama; 53.5Kg; Does well on SOFT GOING.

Starting his campaign on 1600m. Has drawn well and can lead or follow the leader. Will surely need the run.

Horse Racing Tips - 5th Meeting - April 24

Race 6: The Rajcoomar Gujadhur Cup - 1400m (65+)

1. The Cardinal; 56.5Kg; Beekhary; Draw: 10

The Champ of 2009 is back again but this time with a claimer and in better form than last time. Draw not important. Is the horse to beat.

2. Captains Knock; 56.5Kg; Dye; Draw: 9

Is coming back after a lay off due to injury. 1400m will be good for a comeback and cannot be underestimated on sprints through what he has shown in the Duchess last year. Is in good form and draw somehow not that important since the pace will be on. A place in the top four.

3. Gecko Dream; 54.5Kg; Lhermyte; Draw: 8

Is coming back after a long layoff due to injury in the Supertote Golden Trophy last year. Will need the run though he runs well fresh. 1400m appears to be a bit short for his aptitudes. Better on longer.

4. Always A Pleasure; 54Kg; Lacaille; Draw: 4

Is better drawn this time and expected to go forward easily. Last time had to be taken wide to go upfront and thus could not keep on in the last metres when he got beaten by The Cardinal by a small margin. But this time the weight difference will be only 2.5Kg (last time was 6Kg). In top form at training. Can finish in the top four.

5. Drayton; 53.5Kg; Teeha; Draw: 7

Will be running his second race after running a good race behind The Cardinal on 1365m last time. Is much improved on form and will surely follow the leader before firing in the home straight. Would prefer to run without the Drop-Noseband. Is a classy sort and must not be ignored.

6. Revolution; 53.5Kg; Spitteri; Draw: 6 - Is suited to normal or light tracks.

Will no doubt try to run upfront and resist to his opponents. Will have a difficult task awaiting him. Better in lower classes.

7. Men Of Rheims; 52Kg; Boutanive; Draw: 1

Runs well fresh. Is in good form and well placed in the stalls. A long shot from the King of Long Shot?

8. Burberry; 49Kg; Baugheerutty; Draw: 3 Runs well on soft and heavy.

Is a top finisher but is always too far from the pace. Pulled with Blinkers and thus will run without again. Can make it considering his weight viv-a-vis his opponents. A hot pace will be in his favor + his good inside draw. In the Top three.

9. London Del; 50.5Kg; Joorawon; Draw: 2 - Runs well on soft and heavy.

Making his comeback after a long lay off due to injury. Will need the run.

10. Space Captain; 50Kg; Daby; Draw: 5 - Runs well on soft and heavy.

A classy sort and a futur Champion for sure. Has run against top class horses in SA (Smart Banker) Built for the Champs De Mars track. Has impressed at track work. Will have excellent Daby on board. Will be in the top three.

English Premier League - 24/04/2010 - 25/04/2010

Manchester United v/s Tottenham Hotspur

This is the mtach of the day and by many a decisive one once again for both teams - one is fighting back for the Championship and the other for a top four position. Both teams are in top form and Tottenham has beaten the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea to keep fourth spot. On the other hand, Man Utd have scored another last minute goal to keep pace with Chelsea and cut the lead to 1 point only. Man Utd will be playing at home and its a long time since Tottenham have beaten Man Utd at Old Trafford. There away form have not been consistant of late. Man Utd have lost to Chelsea only at home for the last 10 matches and are looking forward to see off Tottenham Hotspur as well. Man Utd is my fave to win this context and Tottenham have to wait for next season to claim a win in the league at Old Trafford.

Horse Racing Tips - 4th Meeting - April 17

Dear Horse lovers, 3 race meetings have elapsed now and this week will be the fourth one. There were some surprise winners as well s horses that have confirmed there form they showed last year. After 3 meetings, it's Gaetan Faucon who is in the lead concerning the Jockey's Championship while the reigning Champ, Shane Dye has still not scored but looks capable of doing so this week with the string of horses he has. Fok Stable has for once taken a very good start. But we have a long way to go and we have to wait for December to know the winners. Let's have a look at the possible winners for this week, starting with the analysis of the main race, which is the Raoul Halbwachs Cup, a sprint on 1400m.

Modern Monet; 60Kg; Teeha; Draw: 6

Seems to be a changed horse and running in a field he should normally outclass on his South African form. Capitaine has been prefered to Alitalia and Strike Again is not included as well. Trained for this race particularly. For what he has shown for his last outings, should be able to break the ice this Saturday. Will follow Cape Rainbow before firing in the home straight.

King's Shilling; 59.5Kg; Spitteri; Draw: 7

New horse who will be testing the Champs De Mars for the first time. Seems to be the best buy for his stable. A good Sprinter/Miler, prefer to see him in action for the first run and follow him for his next outings. Note that he has had some health problems before coming to Mauritius.

Cape Rainbow; 59Kg; Sooful; Draw: 4

A pure srpinter which came to Mauritius with good reputation. Was confronted to some health problems before getting back to winning ways last year on his favorite trip; the 1000m, though he has done well on 1365m. The only front runner of this race. For me he is here as pace-maker for Jet Force and a preparation as well for his next outing.

Wings of Simon; 58Kg; Naiko; Draw: 8

Very disapointing run last time out though having a dream run, following the pacemakers but could not accelerate. Needed the run? Has drawn wide this time and not on his best trip which is according to me 1600m. Has won coming from the back and following his form, he can be included in the quartet.

Camden's Choice; 57.5Kg; Lhermytte; Draw: 1

Has won on wet surfaces only and during summer. Will be running without blinkers this time, which means he will come from behind. An outsider's chance.

Capitaine; 57Kg; Segeon; Draw: 2

Surprise winner for some on his last outing, with changed tactics - coming from behind. Always does well when he runs fresh (remember his first outing) but will he confirm his last win? Better to watch out for him on his third outing as it seems he suffers from second run syndrome. But never know.

Jet Force; 55.5Kg; Faucon; Draw: 3

A very good horse which did well on his last outing after long lay off. Is the main danger for Modern Monet. Will do better on longer trips but 1400m suits him for he is only on his second run after a long lay off due to injury. If he does not suffer from his second run syndrome, he will be in the final 3.

Elizondo; 49.5Kg; Beekhary; Draw 5

Came to Mauritius with a very good reputation but never up to it! Will certainly act as pacemaker for Camden's Choice. But with only 49.5Kg and his class + on the only trip he has won, he can be a surpise winner.

Horse Racing Tips - 3rd Meeting - April 10

Hi all, this week we will have a very interesting main race again with the likes of Hold My Jacket, Pleasing Dancer, Profit Report, Great Masterpiece, Winter Wind, Firebolt, Dunedn Star, Polar Falcon, Candy Bar and Northern Frontier. All of them are having there first run of the season and thus we have to be very careful while making your choice. Need to keep in mind which horses are good at training, those who love to run well fresh, good draw, the circumstances etc ...

I give the best chances for Profit Report for being a classy horse and having Jockey Lhermytte is an advantage. Profit report is better placed in the stalls vis a vis his direct opponents who are Hold My Jacket ad Pleasing Dancer. He can follow from midfield before firing in the final straight. Keeping in mind his very good 2nd place behind the Cardinal during the International Meet., I give him the best chances to win this race. Pleasing Dancer, Great Masterpiece and Hold My Jacket will be in the quartet.

English Premier League - 10/04/2010 - 14/04/2010

Last week, Chelsea came out with all 3 points in a vital match against Man Utd, which is according to all, the title decider. Chelsea were the better team on the day and physically more fit than Man Utd who had to play in the European Cup against Bayern Munchen during the week. Drogba came on to score the winner from a clearly offside position, which the linesman ignored, though he was well placed. Joe Cole scored the opener earlier in the first half. Macheda who came in as a second half substitute scored a goal to give the Red Devils some hope but to no avail.

This week's fixtures are as follows:

1. Hull City v/s Burnley - Hull City Win

2. West Ham Utd v/s Sunderland - West Ham Utd Win

3. Wolverampton Wanderers v/s Stoke City - Wolves Win

4. Blackburn Rovers v/s Man Utd - Man Utd Win

5. Liverpool FC v/s Fulham - LFC Win

6. Man City v/s Birmingham - Man City Win

7. Chelsea v/s Bolton Wanderers - Chelsea Win

8. Aston Villa v/s Everton - Aston Villa Win

Horse Racing Tips - 2nd Meeting - April 3

Race 6 - The SMS Pariaz Challenge Cup - Rating 65+ - 1365m
1. The Cardinal; 60.5Kg; Gaetan Faucon; Draw:5: Runs well on good going and soft - does not act on heavy.
The Champion horse of 2009. Showed his devastating finish to crush everything on his passage last year. Winner of the Derby and Barbe Cup. Seems to be in good form but will have the top weight against him. Is the record holder on this distance. Can follow from midfield in a one off position to fire in the final straight. I think he will need this race. Commands respect though. A place in the top three.

2. Chivas; 51.5Kg; Hoolash; Draw 4; Acts on good going.
Is a top sprinter, a 1000m specialist. Lost form during the last quarter of the season 2009. Is coming back to form slowly. Will have the advantage of carrying only 51.5Kg and a hot pace. Will as usual follow the leaders before attacking in the final 300m. Will need this race to improve further. Outsider.

3. Revolution; 49.5Kg; Bheekary; Draw 7; Acts on good going only.
Consistent performer last season when he hit four wins for his stable, beating the likes of Burberry and Hold My Jacket. The draw seems to be his disadvantage + will have horses that are quicker than him on his inside. But will have only 49.5Kg. Will have to be on top form to be in the top four at least. Outsider.

4. Drayton; 54Kg; Teeha; Draw;3 - Acts on normal and soft. Better on heavy going.
A top class sprinter that is well bred (Danehill familly) and started his career with 3 wins in a row in England. A top competitor there, he was sent to Dubai where he was a good competitor as well. Ran in Group 1 and listed races + Ran in the July Cup and 2000 Guineas. Won on his first outing in South Africa coming from behind. Has loads of speed and is a top class front runner. Can come from behind as well. My favorite to win the race. Others will have to run to beat him, if he repeats what he showed during track work.

5. Germany On; 51Kg; Baugeerotee; Draw: 2; Runs well on normal going. Does not act on Heavy.
Coming back after a long lay off due to health problems. Seems he will need some races before finding his form at least. Outsider.

6. Burberry; 51Kg; Lhermytte; Draw: 1; Acts on normal going as well as heavy.
A top sprinter that disappointed many last year. Seems to be more adapted to local conditions now and will do well this year. Will wear blinkers first time, meaning he will to follow closely since there will be a hot pace. In his previous runs he ran from far back to finish in the money. In my opinion, the blinkers can make Burberry pull a lot and difficult to settle. If the trainer has decided to put this gear he may have his reasons. Will have the weight of his jockey which is a very big advantage + a hot pace which will help finishers. A very good chance to finish in top three.

7. Always A Pleasure; 50.5Kg; Draw: 6; Lacaille; Runs well on normal going.
Came to Mauritius with a very good reputation as a sprinter. Did very well for late starter last season. Is a changed horse this year. Has done very well at training. Has pace, light weight and a top jockey in the name of Lacaille. All these positive points makes him the main challenger for Drayton. My second best.

English Premier League - 03/04/2010 - 04/04/2010

Last week, Arsenal lost 2 precious points in there bid for the Premier League Title, when they drew one all at Birmingham City. Almunia's blunder in the last minute of the match did the trick for Man Utd which won easily away to Bolton Wanderers, by four goals to nil.

1. This Saturday it is one of the tittle-deciding match, Man Utd versus Chelsea, that will catch the attention of all football lovers. Man Utd who have been in great form compared to Chelsea, will be without top scorer Rooney, who will be out for about 1 month. But Man Utd still has resources to replace Rooney up in front with the likes of the talented Berbatov. Chelsea on the other hand will still miss Petr Czech due to injury and Essien. The away matches have been a problem for the Chelsea team. It seems they have lost there momentum and cannot reproduce the form when they started off the season. Man Utd have been in top form and will certainly make Chelsea feel they are at Old Trafford. For me it is clear that Chelsea will suffer a lot and will be more in a defending position rather than attacking. Even without Rooney, Man Utd has other options. Players like Fletcher and Evra will be up to the task, along with the old warriors like Giggs and Scholes who will be seen for sure in the second half. Thus, Man Utd going towards there 19th League Title by beating a serious contender as well, Chelsea. Man Utd Win.

2. Arsenal v/s Wolverampton Wanderers - Arsenal Win

3. Bolton Wanderers v/s Aston Villa - Aston Villa Win

4. Portsmouth v/s Blackburn Rovers - Blackburn Win

5. Stoke City v/s Hull City - Stoke City Win

6. Burnley v/s Manchester City - Draw match

7. Birmingham v/s Liverpool - Draw match

8. Fulham v/s Wigan Ath.  - Fulham Win

9. Everton v/s West Ham Utd - Everton Win.

Top Wins: Manchester United and Stoke City

Top Draw - Birmingham City v/s Liverpool FC

Horse Racing Review - First Meeting

This Saturday, Hugues Maigrot Stable along with Jockey Robbie Burke started off the season with a bang! In fact the stable hit with a hatrick whereas Jockey Burke showed his class with two excellent Jockeyship to win with Best Offer and Appeal Board. His win on Best Offer was one of the best rides of the day if not the best. He took a decisive move approaching the 800m when he asked an effort from Best OFfer to close in and this proved to be the winning tactic as the horse cruised in the final straight to finish strongly in front of Match The Market. Robbie scored his opening with Appeal Board in the second race of the first meeting in the sprint. Otherwise, the third win for the stable was by Teamog which has Jockey Daby at his best again with a decisive move, when he launched Teamog from the 800m mark. This was the second win for the pair  Daby /Teamog.

Eli's Connection broke the ice in the main race to score a nice win with a great finish. As underlined in my preview, Jockey Lacaille did exactly what he was asked to do(where others have failed), that is to hold on Eli's Connection and wait for the final straight to give everything. Eli's Connection kicked on nicely to beat Champ In Action and Young Pretender. Bright Stone and favorite Stateship did not finish in the quartet. Stateship ran an ordinary race after leading in the initial stages. Seems that this horse pulls a lot when in the lead. Should run behind leaders or kept in midfield. Apprentice Yeung Ki was suspended from riding in four meetings following his professional fault that he committed in the same race when he was aboard Champ In Action. He stopped riding for a few metres in the straight line. The explanation given by the Apprentice was that he could not see clearly where the finishing line was and he thought he already crossed the finishing line. All this due to mud that got stuck to his goggles.

Capitain and Cathay Prince as well were outsiders that broke the ice in the fourth and 8th race respectively. Capitaine ran a cracker with a superb finish with Jockey Segeon. Whilst in the first race he came late to fill in the second spot with Go Spook, Bussunt was on target this time with Cathay Prince. The latter was expected to do well on longer distances rather than the 1365m. The going helping, he showed a nice finish to hold on his first win in front of New Trend.

Merven Stable opened the new season by scoring with Lone Star Park which was the race's favorite, given that he was the lone front runner of this race. Hoolash's claim of 4Kg helped as well since Go Spook was closing in very strongly. In the seventh race, it was a Compendium which won with French Jockey Lermytte scoring his first win for him in Mauritius as well as for Trainer Kiki Henry this season. Champions Rousset and Dye came close in the 5th meeting to strike a win but could not hold on in the last metres of the race.

Horse Racing Tips - 1st Meeting - March 27

Race 6: The Badinage Merven 90th Anniversary Cup

The sixth race will see 6 horses competing for the Badinage Merven 90Th Anniversary Cup, which is a sprint on the 1365m for horses rated between 50-65. Let us have a look at the contenders.

1. Bright Stone: 5th Draw; 60Kg; Naiko; acts on soft and heavy tracks -  Was once known for his initial speed and a very competitive sprinter in his class. Has won on 1000m but this was 2 years back. Seems to have lost his initial speed as a sprinter and is best suited over longer. Outsider's chance for me.

2. Camden's Choice: 1st Draw; 60Kg; Jones; acts on soft and better on heavy tracks - A horse that has won his races on wet tracks in Mauritius. Seems to be a summer horse. Needs some more races. Outsider's Chance.

3. Stateship: 3rd Draw; 60Kg; Lermytte; better on normal/soft tracks - Very good sprinter with lots of initial speed. Can lead or sit behind leader before firing in the home turn. Impressive at training. Does very well after break normally. Stands a very good chance.

4. Eli's Connection: 2nd Draw; 59Kg; Lacaille; acts on normal/soft - A horse that has runs against top class oppositions like Molten, The Cardinal & Revolution. Is now down in class. Well placed in the barriers, will surely follow the leaders in a midfield position before attacking in the final straight. Has a devastating finish if handled well in the initial stages as shown when he was runner up to Northern Frontier last year. Is in superb form actually. Can break the ice tomorrow with Lacaille on board.

5. Young Pretender: 4th Draw; 57Kg; Boutanive; acts on normal - A strong finisher, runs well fresh. Should be in the quartet.

6. Champ In Action: 6th Draw; 55Kg; Yeung Ki; does well on normal - Was once a very good sprinter but lost form since with age factor affecting him probably. Has gone down in class. Runs well fresh normally. An outsider's chance.

Conclusion: Eli's Connection should win it by a close margin against Stateship, with Young Pretender and Bright Stone making it for the quartet.

English Premier League - 27/03/2010 - 29/03/2010

Last week, Man Utd beat all time rivals Liverpool by two goals to one to take back there lead from Arsenal. Rooney and Ji Sung Park were on target for ManUtd whereas LFC opened the scoreline with a great header in the opening minutes.

This week, Chelsea is facing Aston Villa at home and this is a tough match for the title challenges. Chelsea's form have dipped a bit and this has been showing against Blackburn Rovers last week. Aston Villa is not an easy team to play against and the Villains will have to win in order to keep there chances alive to qualify for the European Champions League. They have drawn against Wolves and Sunderland in there last two matches at home. If we look at the statistics, Chelsea have lost only once at home to Man City and drawn one only. This makes them favorite to win compared to Aston Villa who have lost 3 and drawn 5. Chelsea are fave to win this match according to me but it will be a very tight match for the Blues. - Chelsea Win

Hull City v/s Fulham - Hull City Win

Tottenham Hotspur v/s Portsmouth - Tottenham Win

West Ham Utd v/s Stoke City - Draw

English Premier League - 20/03/2010 - 21/03/2010

Tomorrow will be marked by the clash of two Premier League Giants, Man Utd and LFC at Old Trafford. The last time these two clubs met at Old Trafford saw LFC beating Man Utd by 4 goals to 1. The score line was surprising indeed. But this time is a different story where LFC are trailing in the near - middle of the table and having a "bad" away record for a Top FOur Team. Man Utd has Robust Rooney on top form and will be no doubt the man to mark for LFC. Though this match seems to be a one way for Man Utd I don't think Sir Alex will take this one lightly. Everyone knows LFC to be another team if they are on fire and they hit back when we expect the least specially in high profile matches like this one.

LFC on the other hand, will try to lift up there play to get the points from Man Utd since they cannot afford to lose another 3 points if they want to be in the Top Four for Champions League Football next season. Torres and Gerrard are both back in form with goals coming from them in mid weeks clash against Lille, at home. Can they produce the same form against there Fiercest rivals so that htey can stop Man Utd from breaking there record of championships? That's the question that has no answer for many. For me I find it difficult for LFC to match with Man Utd at Old Trafford unless they lift up there game to the occasion. I predict a Man Utd win with Rooney on target again.
