Horse Racing Tips - 03 September 2011

RACE 1:

TOP FOUR: Cheerful News - Good Time Charlie - Transparent -Imperial Palace

My Fave: Cheerful News - Will be favoured by a good pace in the race and the distance. Is down in class. The best horse of the lot.

Top Place: Good Time Charlie - Can follow closer to the lead or even lead with his very good draw + only 55.5Kg.

Swinger: Good Time Charlie - Transparent

RACE 2:

TOP FOUR: Kickstart - National Manner - Advocacy - Piquet

My Fave: Kickstart - Is down in class with a reasonable weight. Is back on sprints after a good race on the mile against Running On. Has done well earlier on sprints behind Pablo and What A Hit. Will be favoured by the strong pace in the race.

Top Place: National Manner - Seems to be back to his best. Will be favoured also by the hot pace in the race.

Swinger: National Manner - Kickstart

RACE 3:

TOP FOUR: Il Magnifico - Dominion Legacy - Highland Jet - Cypress Express

My Fave: Il Magnifico - Down in class but with top weight. Can follow the leader or even set his pace.

Top Place: Highland Jet: Pulling a lot last time - will be equipped with a Tongue Tie. Has done very well against Inside Out and Western Emblem. Will be a danger for the favourite.

Swinger: Highland Jet - Dominion Legacy

RACE 4:

TOP FOUR: Shuterfly - Cult Status - Azapel - Cormorant Pass

My Fave: Shutterfly - is back to best after long lay off due to injury. Has done well against top horse Al Masri on his return. Better draw and Geroudis back in the saddle. Will be hard to beat if he gets the first run on his main contenders.

Top Place: Cormorant Pass: Will relish a fast pace and will come at the finish. Is better than his last two races.

Swinger: Cormorant Pass - Cult Status

RACE 5:

TOP FOUR: King's Shilling - Red Lucifer - Galant Gagnant - Slinga Malinga

My Fave: Red Lucifer - to ignore his last race where he was back after a rest and the going. Seems to be back to his best. Will follow and fire this time. Too good for this class (2nd 1.25L behind Royal Chalon and 2nd behind Profit Report 0.05L).

Top Place: King's Shilling- Will be in the lead with ease according to his racing pattern. Based on his previous run against Quiritus on sprint, he will be a danger if allowed to lead easily.

Swinger: Red Lucifer - King's Shilling

RACE 6:

TOP FOUR: Captain's Cheer - Monsieur Dane - Meltaway - Modern Monet

Fave: Captain's Cheer - No comments.

Top Place: Monsieur Dane

Swinger: Monsieur Dane - Meltaway

RACE 7:

TOP FOUR: Lord Gogool - Kaboom - Ivory Snow - Jet Force

My Fave: Lord Gogool

Top Place: Kaboom - to ignore his last race. Needed the run. On his SA form is worth this class and the distance better suits him.

Swinger: Kaboom - Lord Gogool

RACE 8:

TOP FOUR: Humble King - Pale Ale - Alteleker - Salvador Dali

My Fave: Humble King - was just unlucky last time out. Has proved a very good finisher. Will outclass the field following his last run.

Top Place: Pale Ale - is improving with each race. 57.5Kg and top draw, will surely be better place this time. Has a very good finish.

Swinger: Humble King - Pale Ale

LEVE PILE WIN: CHEERFUL NEWS - KICKSTART - RED LUCIFER - HUMBLE KING

LEVE PILE PLACE: TRANSPARENT- RED LUCIFER - KABOOM - PALE ALE

BANKER: KICKSTART - HUMBLE KING

SPECIAL MENTION: CAPE GOLD: IS WORTH A PLACE BET. IS BACK TO HIS OPTIMAL WEIGHT - 554Kg.

HORSE RACING TIPS - 19TH MEETING

RACE 6- THE R.K. DUSSOYE BOOKMAKER- MAURITIUS DERBY CUP 1850m- 50+

1. LAST REGAL- 58Kg; Drawn 5; Chisty

Classy sort which ran in top division in South Africa with the likes of Lion In Winter, Past Master and Noordhoek Flyer. Has won coming from the back or following close to the pace. Did well when setting his own pace once as well. Is in good shape. Distance is not a problem having won two times on 1800m in SA. His second race in Mauritius after having run in the Barbe Cup. May suffer from second race syndrome. Outsider's Chance on class.

2. AL'S DEPUTY - 58Kg; Drawn 4; Daby

Another top class well prepared for his second outing on 1850m. Has had a very good first run on 1600m against the same opponent but with the top weight. Will now have weight advantage. Will surely follow close to the pace this time. Will be a danger at the finish if he does not suffer from second race syndrome after rest. A good place bet.

3. NATIONAL PLAY - 58 Kg; Drawn 1; Holder

Following his racing pattern in SA, seems well placed to set the pace in this race. Will be hard nut to crack if allowed to race upfront without being challenged. But with Intercontinental, which has shown some pace on shorter distance, may find a candidate to set the pace as well. But with change of gear where National Play will now be equipped with Drop Noseband, it seems that his trainer has tactically thought of settling the horse on the inside barrier behind a leader and will be coming from the back. Has won all his races when upfront in SA. Can make the top three.

4. ACCUPA - 58 Kg; Drawn 6; Burke

Has won the first leg of the Championship on 1400m, not necessarily his distance. Was beaten by the race circumstances on his last outing and unlucky. This time going on 1850, which will suit him, but with weight for age against some classy horses mentioned above. On his training form and what he has shown till now, others will find it difficult to get the better of Accupa. Also good to note that Accupa has run against top horses like Galileo's Galaxy and Golden Charriot to name a few. Has shown good pace in SA on longer distance and superb finish on sprints in Mauritius. First Chance for win.

5. WESTERN EMBLEM - 58Kg; Drawn 3; Teeha

Will be at his first attempt over 1600m in his career. 1850m does not seem to be a problem for this horse but at weight for age, will seem difficult to match the likes of Accupa and Al's Deputy. Will surely try to take the lead early and try to resist the finish of the favorites. Was favored by a light weight and a tactical race last time.An outsider.

6. INTERCONTINENTAL - 58Kg; Drawn 2; Geroudis

Has won three in a row after a very good debut on sprint. Has beaten lower class division horses but was very impressive in each of his win. Has shown good pace on the mile and has a tendency to pull a lot. With his second draw will either settle behind Western Emblem or National Play to take the first run on Accupa and others. Will surely attack from the 600m mark as usual. 1850m not a problem. Second favorite to win the race.

According to me, the first 200m will be very determining. If National Play jumps well from the gates he will settlle the pace of the race. But on his last outings, National Play did not show such ability and with his Drop noseband on, I beleive the trainer will ask for settling the horse on the inside barriers behind the leader/s in second or third position. If so, then we may find Western Emblem take the lead but with Intercontinental challenging him on the first 200m knowing that Western Emblem will be on his first attempt on this distance and will be carrying 58Kg or 4.5Kg more than his last run. Intercontinental, with Geroudis will prefer to run in behind the leader and will never elect to go forward early in the race knowing that Intercontinental has a tendency to pull. Al's Deputy may also use his good pace shown in SA to follow in a close position with Accupa on his back and Last Regal. Following the good pace expected with the challenge between Intercontinental and Western Emblem on the first 200m, we will expect Accupa to be more advantaged at the finish. Intercontinental will surely attack earlier to take the first run and Accupa will find no difficulty to follow and fire in the last 300m. National Play will certainly be in contention for a place in the top three wit hAl's Deputy. ACCUPA is my choice for the win, followed by National Play and Al's Deputy.
